For the Life We Love!
I’m running for County Council because after years of being involved in local and community issues I feel that the best thing I can do for my community is to serve on County Council. Through the years, I have been to hundreds of Council meetings about important issues and often have felt our concerns have been ignored. Having a seat on Council will insure that the issues so important to the people of district 8 WILL NOT be ignored.
Being a life long resident of Johns Island and a 9th generation farmer on the same land that my family has been farming since 1725, I’m very concerned about unplanned growth and urban sprawl in all of Charleston County, but particularly the sea islands of District 8. Agriculture is a vital industry in many of these rural areas, so it is extremely important that we preserve them not only for the benefit of our local economy, but also for the quality of life our residents so deeply cherish.
I AGREE WITH LEGARE
- I agree quality of life is one of the biggest issues facing Charleston County and that we must act now to preserve “the life we love;”
- I agree more fiscal responsibility and less bureaucracy from our County government will lead to lower taxes and lower fees;
- I agree there must be better coordination and planning between local governments so taxpayer money isn’t wasted;
- I agree we must take immediate steps to help alleviate traffic congestion on major roads such as Folly, Maybank, Main, and Highway 17;
- I agree we must do more to spur growth among small and local businesses as they are the lifeblood of our economy;
- I agree the drainage problems and inferior road conditions which have plagued District 8 for so long, finally need to be addressed;
- I agree it is time for a NEW voice to represent the needs and concerns of District 8 residents;
If you agree that politics as usual is not working for the residents of District 8 and Charleston County, please, vote LEGARE on November 2 and help Thomas save “the life we love!”
